Lucknow: Vikas Nagar police on Friday registered two separate FIRs against unidentified individuals for allegedly circulating misleading and communally sensitive content on social media in the aftermath of the recent slum fire that gutted hundreds of shanties. The first FIR has been lodged against the handler of an Instagram account identified as “mdali10k” along with other unknown persons. In his complaint, sub-inspector Atul Kumar alleged that the account had uploaded a false and misleading video related to the fire incident. The post reportedly contained inflammatory remarks, abusive language and references aimed at provoking communal sentiments and inciting unrest.Police said the video included claims questioning the cause of multiple LPG cylinder blasts during the fire and used objectionable language targeting political leaders and people from specific regions.A second FIR has been registered against another Instagram account, “news_artery”, and other unidentified persons.Sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap Singh alleged that the account had shared a video claiming that over 100 people had died in the fire.
