Lucknow: In another key decision taken during the LMC meeting, the Town Vending Committee approved a proposal to declare markets within the municipal limits that are over 50 years old as “heritage markets.”The move aims to preserve the historical and cultural identity of the city’s traditional business hubs while promoting their organised development.Prominent commercial areas such as Charbagh, Aminabad, Chowk, Nakhhas and old city markets are expected to be covered under the proposal.Officials said the move aims to preserve the unique identity and historical character of these traditional markets while promoting their cultural and commercial significance. The heritage tag is expected to support conservation efforts and improve infrastructure without altering the original charm of these long-standing marketplaces.The initiative is also expected to boost the visibility and economic activity of these markets, ensuring that their original character is retained even as civic amenities are improved.No-vending within CM GridLucknow: The Town Vending Committee (TVC) of LMC approved measures aimed at streamlining street vending and creating organised vending spaces across the city, while designating key corridors under the ‘CM Grid’ schemes as no-vending zones. The panel cleared proposals to develop ward-wise “model vending zones” to bring uniformity and better infrastructure to street markets. Officials from Zones 2, 3 and 8 presented the initial plan, which received the committee’s approval. Other zones have been directed to prepare similar proposals.
