Lucknow: A young couple working at a brick kiln in Bahraich district died after being bitten by a poisonous snake that entered their room late at night, officials said on Monday. The tragic incident has left both the worksite and their native village in mourning.According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Sunil (26) and his wife Sapna (25), residents of Khadariya village in Motipur area. The couple had been working and living at a brick kiln in the Kalpipara locality under the Dargah police station area.Police said that on Sunday night, after finishing work, the couple had dinner together and went to sleep in their room at the kiln premises. In the early hours of Monday, fellow workers heard distress cries coming from the room.When they rushed inside, they found the couple in a critical condition. A venomous snake had bitten Sunil on his hand and Sapna on her neck.The locals immediately took both victims to the medical college for treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, the couple succumbed to the snakebite within a short span of time.Hospital authorities later sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
