Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) is set to introduce an alumni-funded support system aimed at assisting economically weaker students who struggle to meet rising educational expenses. The initiative seeks to create an alumni network through which former students can directly contribute towards tuition fees of meritorious yet financially disadvantaged learners. The proposed model is designed to bridge the financial gap and ensure that academic talent is not restricted by monetary constraints.University officials stated that the initiative leverages the strong alumni base spread across various sectors to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in higher education.Vice-chancellor JP Saini said, “Education should never become a privilege limited by financial capacity. Through this alumni-driven initiative, we aim to build a culture of giving back. The university is currently working on the framework to operationalise the dedicated alumni base, and a detailed plan is being drafted. The university is also developing a transparent digital gateway to manage contributions and beneficiary allocation.”
