Lucknow: Additional chief secretary (energy) and UPPCL chairman Ashish Kumar Goel took action against officials for negligence and delay in replacing damaged transformers. A junior engineer (JE) was suspended, while one superintendent engineer (SE), two executive engineers (EE), one assistant engineer (AE) and one JE were given adverse entries. The chief engineer (CE) was also charge-sheeted.Reviewing the functioning of state discoms, Goel directed officials to ensure that electricity supply strictly follows the scheduled roster. He said in case of reduced supply for any reason, it must be compensated promptly.The action was taken against the CE of Rae Bareli, the SE of Mainpuri, the AE and a JE. The EE of Sidhauli was also given an adverse entry regarding transformer-related negligence.Goel instructed that tripping incidents must be minimised and reviewed daily. For this, he directed the UPPCL director (distribution), technical directors of discoms and all CEs to conduct daily monitoring.He added that damage to transformers will be investigated and responsibility will be fixed, followed by recovery and disciplinary action. Damaged transformers must be replaced quickly to restore normal power supply.With rising temperatures, Goel stressed the need for alertness to ensure uninterrupted power supply as per schedule. He also emphasised regular maintenance of power lines and transformers to prevent damage.
