‘Michael’, starring Jaafar Jackson as the late King of Pop, has continued its steady run at the Indian box office as it approaches the end of its first week.On Day 6, the film collected an estimated net total of Rs 2.30 crore, across 2,722 shows. Although the film registered a marginal drop of 4.2% from Tuesday’s collection of Rs 2.40 crore, it still managed to keep its collections above the Rs 2 crore mark amid stiff competition from films like ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Bhooth Bangla’.With this, the film’s total India net collections have reached approximately Rs 23.45 crore net, while its gross total collections stand at an estimated Rs 28.07 crore. It remains to be seen if the film’s ability to maintain a consistent weekday trend can push its first week collections past the Rs 30 crore gross mark.The biographical drama, which has already emerged as one of the stronger-performing Hollywood titles in April, and has managed to hold its ground despite facing stiff competition from domestic releases like Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and Ranveer Sigh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’.However, the film is set to face fresh competition starting May 1, as multiple new releases enter the market. Among them is the Marathi film ‘Raja Shivaji’, a historical epic expected to benefit from its regional appeal and the Maharashtra Day holiday. Early trends suggest a Hindi opening in the Rs 2–3 crore net range.Also entering the ring is ‘Ek Din’, backed by Aamir Khan’s banner and starring Junaid Khan alongside Sai Pallavi. The romantic drama is expected to open in the range of Rs 1–2 crore net.On the international front, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is also slated for release, with reports indicating a strong debut weekend of USD 65–80 million in North America, while the film’s collections from international markets are expected to fetch an additional USD 100 million.
