Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that the BJP govt has provided jobs to a record number of 9 lakh people in the past nine years in a transparent manner and said that UP was given the ‘BIMARU’ tag due to dishonesty and corruption under the previous govts.Speaking at Lok Bhavan during an appointment letter distribution programme organised by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, the CM said: “A state like Uttar Pradesh did not turn into a ‘BIMARU’ state merely by chance. It was dishonesty and corruption that made the state ‘BIMARU’. They (past govts) transformed it into an anarchic state plagued by hooliganism.”“There was so much discrimination in the selection processes that the honourable courts were compelled to intervene and stop them,” he said.Yogi added that when he took charge as the chief minister, “every single recruitment process” was stayed by the court.“Earlier, while the chairman of the recruitment board sat in his office, an ‘uncle-nephew’ duo would set out on a mission of extortion (‘vasooli’),” Yogi alleged.“In the past nine years of BJP govt, more than 9 lakh youths have been given govt jobs in the state. It is a record for the highest number of appointments carried out by any state in a smooth and transparent manner,” Yogi said. The CM distributed letters to 357 newly selected junior analysts (drugs) for the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) and 252 dental hygienists for the medical and health department. He announced that the state was planning to complete more than 1.5 lakh govt recruitments in the current financial year (2026-27).The CM said the govt enacted a strict anti-cheating law to ensure there was no tampering in the recruitment processes. “Those who try to tamper with the examination process or cheat the govt by resorting to fraudulent means would face prison for life, and the local administration would also confiscate their properties,” warned Yogi.Speaking on the importance of fair recruitment, Yogi said everyone wanted their child to receive a good education and move towards a secure future.“When deserving youths fail to get expected results, not only are their own dreams shattered, but the hopes of their families are also crushed. The collapse of a young person’s aspirations is betrayal to future generations,” he remarked. He said that before 2017, if one person appeared for the examination, another would receive the appointment letter. “This was indeed the reality then,” he said.Yogi claimed that curfews remained in force for months in Uttar Pradesh, and no individual felt safe under the previous govt.Highlighting sector-wise appointments, Yogi said more than 2.2 lakh recruitments were carried out in the police department alone under the BJP govt. He said the commission would distribute letters and relevant documents on May 4 and May 6.The CM linked recruitment reforms with broader governance changes. “We have succeeded in tripling per capita income of our state over the past nine years without any discrimination. Majority of the districts now have a medical college, while two AIIMS are operational in the state,” he said.He added that the resources and infrastructure provided to FSDA were upgraded over the past few years, with modern laboratories and trained manpower deputed to test the food samples.“We have increased the number of laboratories from 5 to 18. Similarly, annual testing sample size has gone up from 12,000 to 5,50,000. Once we have more manpower, our testing capacity annually would increase further to 1.08 lakh,” Yogi said.“The commission is working on hiring 417 more junior analysts (food), post which the capacity of the laboratories would be strengthened,” Yogi said.Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, elected representatives and senior officials were present at the event.
