Lucknow: A 46-year-old man, who accompanied his son to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Lucknow, died after being hit by a train near the examination centre in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT).The deceased, Arun Kumar, a resident of Bidhuna in Auraiya district, came to the city to ensure his son could take the crucial medical entrance exam at BKT Inter College.According to police, the incident occurred shortly after the exam began. Kumar walked towards the railway tracks located a short distance from the centre. While returning, he was struck by an oncoming train, leading to his death on the spot.Local residents who witnessed the accident alerted the police. A team from the nearby Indaura Bagh police outpost on Sitapur Road reached the scene and initiated identification procedures. Kumar was identified through an Aadhaar card found in his bag. Police also recovered his mobile phone and informed his family members.“His family confirmed that he came to Lucknow with his son for the NEET examination,” said BKT station house officer Sanjay Singh.The incident came to light for the family only after the examination concluded around 5 pm. Police later informed Kumar’s son, who was inside the examination centre at the time of the accident. He was subsequently brought to the BKT police station.“The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further legal formalities are under way. The family is on its way from Auraiya to Lucknow,” added the SHO.
