AIADMK’s Nallathambi A emerges victorious, securing 73167 votes against DMK’s Chinnadurai K by a margin of 14404.Gangavalli Assembly constituency is located in Salem district of Tamil Nadu and is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. The constituency forms part of the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha constituency and typically witnesses electoral contests involving the Dravidian parties, particularly the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), reflecting the broader political pattern across the region.In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,18,854 electors, of which 1,75,981 valid votes were polled. AIADMK candidate Maruthamuthu A secured victory with 74,301 votes, defeating DMK candidate Rekha Priyadharshini J, who received 72,039 votes. The winning margin stood at 2,262 votes, indicating a closely contested race between the two major Dravidian parties.Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Gangavalli had 1,83,269 electors and recorded 1,50,047 valid votes. Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) candidate Subha R won the seat with 72,922 votes, defeating DMK candidate Chinnadurai K, who secured 59,457 votes. The margin of victory was 13,465 votes, reflecting the influence of the DMDK-led alliance during that election cycle.
