Lucknow: Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Monday stressed the need to further strengthen maternal healthcare services, calling for a comprehensive and technology-driven approach to bring maternal mortality down to zero.Addressing a high-level meeting at Yojana Bhawan, Pathak said the state must work holistically to improve hospital quality, monitoring systems and human resource capacity while leveraging digital solutions for better outcomes.The meeting focused on a roadmap prepared under the Mukhyamantri Matritva Suraksha Sankalp Yojana to eliminate preventable maternal deaths.Officials said the State Transformation Commission’s health cell has devised a targeted strategy to significantly reduce the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) by 2030.A key component of the roadmap is a proposed mobile application aimed at ensuring 100% registration of pregnant women and improving tracking of service delivery.The presentation was made by STC CEO Manoj Kumar Singh in the presence of senior health officials, including representatives from the National Health Mission and the health and family welfare department.Pathak also called for strengthening grassroots healthcare systems, particularly the ASHA network, through better structure, accountability and incentives. He emphasised the need to improve monitoring of hospitals, enhance public healthcare facilities and address gaps in rural healthcare delivery.The deputy CM further directed officials to ensure accountability in private healthcare institutions and suggested setting measurable targets for medical colleges. He also stressed optimal utilisation of NHM funds and proposed the development of centres of excellence in gynaecology to improve maternal care outcomes across the state.
