The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has declared the Tamil Nadu Class 12 Result 2026, with girls once again outperforming boys in the Higher Secondary examinations. According to the official data, girls recorded a pass percentage of 97% in the Tamil Nadu HSE +2 exams 2026, while boys registered 93.19%. The performance gap between girls and boys widened to 3.81% this year, compared to 3.54% in 2025. The Tamil Nadu Class 12 board examinations were conducted from March 2 to March 26, 2026, across 3,412 examination centres in the state. A total of 7,91,654 students appeared for the HSE +2 examinations this year. Out of them, 7,53,694 students passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 95.20%. Last year, the overall pass percentage stood at 95.03%, showing a marginal improvement in 2026. Girls continued to lead not only in pass percentage but also in overall participation. Around 4,18,724 girl students appeared for the examination, compared to 3,72,930 boys. In terms of successful candidates, 4,06,167 girls cleared the examination, while 3,47,527 boys passed the Tamil Nadu Class 12 exams 2026. The gender-based performance trend was also visible in school categories. Girls’ schools recorded a pass percentage of 97.08%, whereas boys’ schools registered 90.49%. Co-educational schools posted an overall pass percentage of 95.30%. The Tamil Nadu HSE +2 results 2026 also showed that girls continued to maintain stronger academic performance across districts and school types, reinforcing a trend consistently seen in state board examinations over recent years.
