COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police arrested a 28-year-old man who appeared like a “zombie drug user” in a video that went viral in social media recently.The arrested man has been identified as J Badhusa Khan, 28, of Azath Nagar near Karumbukadai in the city. He was working at a fish shop in Chennai.According to police, Badhusa got someone to record the video while he was standing motionless in a public area, imitating drug-induced “zombie-like” behaviour. The video was later uploaded online to attract attention and boost social media engagement.After the video went viral, police registered a case. Badhusa was arrested in Chennai on Friday, produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. Police seized 200 grams of ganja from his possession at the time of arrest.During the investigation, police found that the act had been deliberately staged to gain likes and views on social media platforms.A senior police officer said, “We are taking stringent action against drug users and peddlers in the city.”Police launched a search for the person who recorded the video.
