Lucknow: Quick steps such as keeping the baby warm, clearing the airway and helping the newborn breathe in the first few minutes after birth can save lives and prevent serious health problems.This was highlighted by head of the neonatology department Prof Kirti M Naranje during a newborn care training programme at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) on Saturday.More than 70 doctors, nurses and trainees took part in the programme organised jointly by the department of neonatology and the College of Nursing under the nationwide NRP Day initiative. Participants were trained in helping newborns breathe properly after birth and other basic emergency care steps.
