Lucknow: Rare manuscripts, historical govt records, archival files and old documents preserved by the Uttar Pradesh State Archives will be showcased for visitors during its 77th Foundation Day programme on Wednesday.The exhibition, to be organised at Shaheed Smriti Bhavan, alongside a national seminar, aims to familiarise students, researchers and the public with India’s manuscript traditions and archival heritage. The programme is being organised on the theme: “Importance of manuscripts in Indian knowledge tradition and their relevance for future generations.”Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said: “We want younger generations to connect with historical records and understand their importance in preserving India’s civilisational and cultural legacy.”Established in 1949 as the central records office in Allahabad and shifted to Lucknow in 1973, the UP State Archives preserves govt records older than 30 years along with rare books, manuscripts and historical documents.
