Officials said the highest number of violations after helmet offences involved illegal parking, with 3,460 challans issued against vehicles found obstructing roads and public spaces across the city. Traffic police said indiscriminate parking remains one of the major reasons behind congestion in busy market areas and key intersections.The drive saw 703 challans for HSRP violations during the campaign.Police further cracked down on dangerous wrong-side driving, issuing 521 challans against violators. Officials said wrong-side driving continues to be a major cause of accidents and near-miss incidents on city roads.Action was also taken against motorcycles fitted with modified silencers. Traffic police issued 94 challans against such vehicles during the operation.Also, 17 motorists were booked for drunken driving after being found driving under the influence of alcohol during checking drives conducted at various locations in the city.DCP traffic, Raveena Tyagi said the campaign was launched to improve road discipline, reduce accidents and ensure smoother traffic movement across Lucknow. Similar drives will continue in the coming days, she added.
