Lucknow: Visitors to the Lucknow zoo will soon have a new attraction, with the UP tourism department set to renovate a modern polyhouse inside the zoo’s Butterfly Park at a cost of Rs 2 crore.Zoo director Sanjay Biswal said that the idea is to develop a natural habitat for butterflies to thrive and create a platform for the public and a kids’ play area to educate people about these beautiful creatures, including their origin, life cycle, species diversity and the environmental conditions needed for their survival.He added that the construction work is expected to begin by the end of May and be completed in six months.The renovated polyhouse will include nectar-rich flowering plants such as cosmos, marigold, lily, salvia and bee balm to attract butterflies and support their breeding cycle. A special two-way entrance for butterflies and large glass windows for visitors will be installed to allow uninterrupted observation without disturbing the insects.
