Lucknow: UP has secured the ‘Exemplar’ status among landlocked states in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2025 rankings released by the Centre, marking an improvement from its earlier ‘Achiever’ category ranking over the past three years, an official spokesperson said.The rankings were released by the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) under the Union ministry of commerce and industry during the LEAPS 2025 awards ceremony held at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi.The award was presented by Union commerce and industry minister, Piyush Goyal and received on behalf of the state by Shashank Chaudhary.LEADS is a national benchmarking exercise launched in 2018 to assess logistics performance of states and Union Territories. States are evaluated on logistics infrastructure, services, regulatory efficiency and operational performance.Officials said UP was ranked in the ‘Achiever’ category from 2022-2024 and has now moved to the highest category due to improvements in logistics infrastructure, connectivity and industrial growth.According to Invest UP officials, the UP Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2022 has helped strengthen warehousing, cold-chain and freight infrastructure in the state.The state govt has also prepared city logistics masterplans under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to improve freight movement, reduce transportation costs and strengthen last-mile connectivity.Officials said the state is promoting private investment and public-private partnership models in logistics parks, warehousing facilities and rural storage infrastructure. Logistics hubs are also being developed near expressways, freight corridors and upcoming airports to improve supply chain efficiency and industrial connectivity.
