NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft on Sunday received a ceremonial escort from Sweden’s Gripen fighter jets as it entered Swedish airspace en route to Gothenburg, the country’s second-largest city.His plane had earlier received a ceremonial escort from an F-16 fighter jet of the UAE, the first country on his ongoing five-nation official tour.PM Modi is visiting Sweden on a two-day trip at the invitation of his counterpart, Ulf Kristersson. The prime minister is flying in from the Netherlands.From Sweden, he will travel to Norway and then Italy, the final stop of his tour.In Gothenburg, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The two leaders will review cooperation in trade, green transition, AI, emerging technologies, startups, resilient supply chains, defence, space, climate action and people-to-people ties.They will also address the European Round Table for Industry.Bilateral trade reached a record $7.75 billion last year, while Swedish investment in India totalled over $2.8 billion between 2000 and 2025.This is the prime minister’s second official visit to Sweden. He had earlier undertaken a two-day visit to Stockholm in April 2018 during his first term in office.
