Lucknow: A 22-year-old woman working as a manager with a multinational company was found dead with her skull crushed near the Utretia railway station in Vrindavan Yojana on Monday.The victim, Shivani Singh, had gone missing on May 17 after leaving her residence in Eldeco Udyan-2.The body was spotted by some locals who alerted the police.Police said the body bore severe head injuries, suggesting that the skull had been smashed with a heavy object.“A field unit team inspected the scene and collected forensic evidence. The body was sent for postmortem after legal formalities,” said ADCP South, Vasanth Kumar.Police matched the description with a missing person complaint registered at the PGI police station. The family was contacted and they later identified the body at the KGMU mortuary.Sources said Shivani got engaged last month.Based on call detail records (CDR), police suspect that someone known to her, possibly her former lover, lured her to the isolated spot before killing her.“Multiple teams have been formed to track the sequence of events and identify those last in contact with the victim,” a senior officer said, adding that CCTV footage from nearby areas are being analysed.
