THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Higher Secondary Examination results were announced here on Tuesday. The results recorded a marginal increase in the overall pass percentage, as 77.97% of candidates cleared the examination against a 77.81% pass percentage in the previous academic year. Girls outshone boys in the latest results as well. While 84.89% of girls cleared the exam, the percentage of boy students who became eligible for higher studies was 68.41%. General Education Minister N. Shamsudheen announced the results.A total of 3,72,423 school-going candidates appeared for the Higher Secondary Examination held in March 2026. Of these, 2,90,381 candidates became eligible for higher studies by securing the minimum required marks. The results have been finalised considering the marks scored by students in their first-year Higher Secondary Examination as well.Stream-wise results reflected a higher pass percentage in the science stream. A total of 84.52% of students in the science stream cleared the exam, whereas the pass percentages in the commerce and humanities streams were 74.74% and 66.38%, respectively. Among Scheduled Caste students, 58.95% of candidates cleared the examination, while among Scheduled Tribe candidates, the pass percentage stood at 65.33%.When it comes to sector-wise performance of schools, students of aided schools recorded an 82.82% pass percentage against 72.66% in the government sector and 78.18% in the unaided sector. There was also a marginal increase in the number of students who secured A+ in all subjects. A total of 30,561 candidates secured all A+. The figure was 30,145 last year. Among the all A+ holders, 23,095 are girl students and 7,466 are boys. The highest number of students who secured all A+ were from the science stream (22,970), followed by commerce (5,264) and humanities (2,327). As many as 60 students secured full marks (1,200/1,200). Last time, 41 candidates achieved that feat. A minimum of 30% marks is required for candidates to become eligible for higher studies.Idukki district recorded the highest pass percentage (84.64%). The lowest pass percentage was in Kasaragod (71.72%). The highest number of students to appear for the exam was from Govt HSS, Tirurangadi, Malappuram, where 835 candidates appeared for the exam. Malappuram also recorded the highest number of all A+ holders (4,621).Higher Secondary technical stream, art stream, and open school exam results were also announced. While the technical stream recorded a 72.82% pass percentage, the same was 82.54% in the art stream and 50.92% in the open school stream. Meanwhile, the Vocational Higher Secondary Examination recorded a 72.49% pass percentage. As many as 25,259 candidates appeared for the VHSE examination.
