Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been the headline act of IPL 2026, breaking records on a regular basis and earning praise from across the cricket fraternity. The 15-year-old sensation recently surpassed Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. As his incredible rise continues, comparisons with some of cricket’s greatest names have become inevitable. First came the comparisons with Chris Gayle, thanks to his unmatched power-hitting and ability to clear boundaries at will. By smashing 65 sixes in the tournament, Sooryavanshi went past Gayle’s iconic tally of 59 sixes from the 2012 season, making the “Universe Boss” comparison a natural one.He was also compared to Sachin Tendulkar because of the remarkable maturity, fearless intent, and technical assurance he has displayed at such a young age. Much like a teenage Sachin, Sooryavanshi has shown an ability to thrive under immense pressure while carrying the expectations of millions. Now, former Australia cricketer and coach Tom Moody has taken the comparisons to an entirely different level by invoking the name of the legendary Don Bradman. Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Moody struggled to find a modern-day comparison for the teenager’s dominance.“I’m sort of trying to get my head around how to explain it. The only way to explain it is to ask someone to watch it and come up with their own description, because we’re witnessing something I don’t think we’ve seen in our lifetime in this format of the game, or even any format of the game,” Tom Moddy said“We’ve seen amazing things, but not to this extreme. The only thing I can take it back to is what Don Bradman was doing. Bradman nearly averaged 100 in Test cricket, and the drop-off to the next best was around 60, so that’s the separation we’re talking about. It’s that in T20 cricket at the age of 15,” Moody added.Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s IPL 2026 season has been nothing short of extraordinary. The 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals sensation dominated the tournament with 680 runs in 15 matches at a staggering strike rate of 242.85. With Qualifier 2 on line, Vaibhav will the challenge of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada in New Chandigarh.
