Lucknow: The death of a 22-year-old woman who fell from the Madiaon overbridge has taken a dramatic turn, with her father alleging murder and naming her boyfriend and his relatives in an FIR on Sunday.Shilpi Gautam, a resident of Birampur Singhamau in Bakshi Ka Talab, died after falling from the overbridge around 11 pm on Thursday. She was rushed to a hospital by passers-by and police, where doctors declared her dead. The case was initially treated as a suspected suicide. However, in his complaint, Shilpi’s father alleged that her boyfriend, his brother and other associates killed her and threw the body from the bridge to stage it as a suicide. He also claimed the accused earlier threatened his daughter and the family, and sought strict action.Police have registered a murder case and begun a detailed probe. DCP North Gopal Krishna Chaudhary said all angles, including the nature of Shilpi’s relationship with the accused and any recent dispute, are under scrutiny. Call records, messages and witness accounts are being analysed. At the same time, preliminary evidence points to a possible suicide. CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the woman approaching the overbridge alone. “She is seen by herself in the available footage, indicating a strong possibility of suicide. However, the investigation is open,” an officer said.Post-mortem findings cite a fatal head injury with multiple impact injuries consistent with a fall, with no clear signs of assault so far.
