Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) installed 89.67 lakh smart meters across its distribution companies under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and generated postpaid electricity bills for 85.6 lakh consumers for June 2026.Around 45,000 of these consumers fall under the new connection category, and their first electricity bills are scheduled to be generated in July. For another 3.62 lakh consumers, meter data could not be retrieved through the communication network due to technical and connectivity issues. In such cases, meter readings are being collected manually using handheld units instead of the automated system. Bills for another 22.6 lakh consumers are expected to be delivered via SMS by June 15, while the remaining consumers will receive their bills through SMS by June 18.UPPCL has also announced relief regarding payment deadlines. For smart meter consumers, the valid due date for bill payment will be either the date printed on the bill or June 29, whichever is later. Consumers whose bills show a due date before June 29 will not be charged a late payment surcharge if they make the payment by June 29.
