Hyundai has officially unveiled the fourth-generation i20, following the recent leak of its images online. The latest version of the premium hatchback debuts first in Brazil and brings a completely redesigned exterior, a revamped cabin and updated powertrain options.The new i20 adopts a noticeably different design philosophy compared to its predecessor. While the overall hatchback profile remains familiar, Hyundai has added several SUV-inspired styling elements. The front end features a full-width LED light bar connecting a pair of arrow-shaped headlamps, while Y-shaped LED DRLs add a distinctive signature. At the rear, the hatchback gets connected tail-lamps integrated into triangular-shaped housings. It also has new 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.Built on Hyundai’s K3 platform, the new i20 measures 4,130 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height. It rides on a wheelbase of 2,580 mm and offers a boot capacity of 346 litres.Inside, the cabin receives a major overhaul with a cleaner and more modern layout. The dashboard features a curved display integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. Hyundai has also introduced a new three-spoke steering wheel, while the centre console has also been redesigned. The interior is finished in a dual-tone grey theme, and the seats are wrapped in two-tone leather upholstery. Additional features include a wireless charging pad, front centre armrest and cupholders.Under the hood, Hyundai is offering the fourth-generation i20 in Brazil with two flex-fuel engine options. The entry-level versions are powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This unit develops 74 bhp and 92 Nm when running on petrol, while outputs increase to 79 bhp and 100 Nm when fuelled by ethanol.Higher trims are equipped with a 1.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged flex-fuel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers 113 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. Hyundai also states that the turbo engine produces 113.4 bhp and 171.5 Nm irrespective of whether it runs on E30 petrol or ethanol.
