Lucknow: A fresh western disturbance (WD) is likely to influence weather conditions across north India from Jun 18 and help the southwest monsoon resume its advance towards UP.On Wednesday night, the northern limit of monsoon was passing through Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam in Telangana, Koraput and Phulbani in Odisha, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Jamui and Muzaffarpur in Bihar. Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar and some parts of Chhattisgarh during next 4-5 days, said met officials.India Meteorological Department has predicted the WD will be active around northern India in the next few days. The WD are weather systems that originate over the Mediterranean region and move eastwards through Pakistan into northern India. When they reach western Himalayas, they often lead to increased cloud cover, changes in wind patterns and favourable conditions for rainfall.According to Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Lucknow senior scientist Mohammad Danish, monsoon’s pace has slowed in recent days because moisture flow from the Arabian Sea has weakened, while hot and dry westerly winds have remained dominant over northwest India. The incoming WD is expected to disrupt this pattern by reducing the impact of the dry winds and improving moisture availability across the region, he added.“The system could also lead to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over parts of north India, helping pull moisture-laden winds from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal into the Indo-Gangetic plains. This is likely to create conditions that support further movement of the monsoon into UP,” he explained.Weather experts said effects of the WD should start becoming noticeable over the next two to three days, with increased cloudiness and posssibilities of rainfall activity in several parts of the state.Meanwhile, state capital continued to reel under hot and humid condition on Wednesday. Maximum temperature was 39.6 degrees Celsius, 1.6 units normal, while the minimum temperature was 29.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches above normal. IMD has forecast mainly clear sky for Thursday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 41 and 30 degrees, respectively.At 45® C, Prayagraj hottest in UPPrayagraj remained the hottest city in the country for the second consecutive day, with maximum temperatures recorded at 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
