Jharkhand TET 2026: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi, will close the online application process for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026 today, June 20, 2026. The deadline, which was extended by the council, marks the final opportunity for eligible candidates seeking to appear for the state-level teacher eligibility examination.JTET 2026 is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6 to 8) schools across Jharkhand. The notification for the examination was released on March 28, 2026, while the online registration process commenced on April 21, 2026. Applications are being accepted through the official JTET portal.Eligibility requirements for both levelsFor the Primary level, candidates must have passed Senior Secondary with at least 50 per cent marks along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or an equivalent qualification. Candidates meeting eligibility provisions under NCTE norms, including those with 45 per cent marks in Senior Secondary, are also eligible. Graduates with D.El.Ed, candidates holding a four-year B.El.Ed degree, and those with a Diploma in Special Education can also apply.For the Upper Primary level, applicants must possess a graduation degree along with D.El.Ed or B.Ed qualifications. Candidates who have completed integrated programmes such as BA B.Ed or B.Sc B.Ed are eligible. B.Ed Special Education holders and candidates with equivalent recognised qualifications may also apply.Application fee and age criteriaThe application fee for General, EWS, BC-1 and BC-2 candidates is Rs 1,300 for a single paper and Rs 1,500 for both papers. For SC and ST candidates, the fee is Rs 700 for one paper and Rs 800 for both papers. PVTG candidates are required to pay Rs 500 for a single paper and Rs 600 for both papers, while Divyang candidates must pay Rs 700 and Rs 800 respectively.The minimum age for applicants is 21 years. The upper age limit will be governed by Jharkhand government rules. Category-wise age relaxation provisions will apply. JAC has also announced a one-time age relaxation benefit linked to the gap between previous and current JTET examination cycles.Examination pattern and qualifying marksJTET 2026 will be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. Both Level 1 and Level 2 examinations will have 150 objective-type questions carrying 150 marks and a duration of two hours and 30 minutes. There will be no negative marking, and question papers will be available in Hindi and English.Candidates from the General and EWS categories must secure 60 per cent marks to qualify, while BC-1 and BC-2 candidates require 55 per cent. The qualifying mark is 52 per cent for SC, ST, PVTG and Divyang candidates.
