Lucknow: UP is ready for grand International Yoga Day celebrations, with plans to engage around 1.42 crore students across 1.32 lakh Parishadiya Vidyalayas. In addition, over 78,000 girls from 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will participate in yoga activities.Officials said collective yoga sessions will be held in schools across the state on Sunday, with participation from students, teachers, Shiksha Mitras, instructors and parents. Director of education (Basic), Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, has been appointed the nodal officer for monitoring and coordination of the programme.Basic education department has completed preparations for the event. Following directives from the ministry of AYUSH and the ministry of education, guidelines have been issued to divisional assistant directors, district basic education officers and block education officers.Schools will organise yoga sessions, pranayama exercises and awareness programmes. Students will be educated about the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, while participation of parents and local communities will also be encouraged. The programme is aimed at spreading awareness about yoga and instilling healthy habits among children.
