Lucknow: The first phase of Census 2027 has been completed in Uttar Pradesh, with 100% coverage of the Houselisting and Housing Census exercise conducted between May 22 and June 20.The exercise was carried out across all administrative units of the state — 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 17 municipal corporations, 200 municipal councils, 545 nagar panchayats, 13 Cantonment boards, and eight industrial townships. The survey covered 1,195 census charges, nearly 1.04 lakh villages, around 15,000 wards, and 390,717 houselisting blocks.Around five lakh enumerators and supervisors were deployed for the extensive field operation. Their efforts ensured the successful completion of the exercise within the stipulated time frame despite challenging summer conditions.Directorate of Census Operations, Uttar Pradesh, said, the milestone marks a significant achievement for the state and lays a strong foundation for the nationwide census process.The second phase of the Census will begin in Feb 2027.
