A POSCO case was registered after video showing Tamil Nadu Higher education minister P Viswanathan touching the outstretched legs of girl athletes while speaking to them at an event in Melur, Madurai, triggered outrage on social media.The authenticity of the viral video has not been independently verified. According to reports, the athletes were resting after participating in a marathon organised as part of the birthday celebrations of chief minister C Joseph Vijay and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The event was held at the Melur Government School, where prizes were distributed to the participants.The video shows Viswanathan greeting the athletes after the prize distribution ceremony. In the footage, he can be seen touching the outstretched legs of some of the athletes and cracking their toes while talking to them. Reacting to the controversy, DMK advocate Saranya Natarajan called the minister’s behaviour inappropriate and demanded his resignation.“Viswanathan’s behaviour with children was inappropriate, we registered a POCSO case; he should resign,” Natarajan said.
