PANAJI: A 34-year-old tourist from Karnataka drowned after slipping from rocks along the Baga-Arpora coastline in North Goa on Wednesday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Ashpaq Masli, a resident of Bijapur, Karnataka. According to officials, he had climbed onto the rocky stretch despite warnings about the dangers posed by the monsoon season.Witnesses said Masli lost his footing on the slippery rocks and was swept into the sea. A video of the incident, recorded by his friends, later surfaced on social media and went viral.Authorities said the rocky coastline becomes extremely slippery during the monsoon, and warning signboards have been installed at several locations, cautioning visitors about strong waves and the risk of falling while taking photographs or shooting videos.Despite repeated advisories, officials noted that some tourists continue to venture onto the rocks for photography and social media reels, putting themselves at risk.
