‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ have changed the perspective towards Hindi cinema. So much so, that a large part of the audience is also now comparing every film to this Aditya Dhar directorial because a new benchmark is set. Veteran filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has heaped praise on director Aditya Dhar for staying true to his vision while making ‘Dhurandhar’, revealing that the filmmaker refused to take shortcuts despite facing years of hurdles. Sharing his admiration on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta recounted a conversation with a crew member who had witnessed Dhar’s relentless commitment throughout the film’s journey.According to Sanjay, a member of the ‘Dhurandhar’ team spoke about how Aditya remained steadfast during every phase of the project, from pre-production to post-production. Sharing the anecdote, he wrote, “Yesterday I met a crew member from Dhurandar, who watched Aditya Dhar fight for his vision every single day of pre-production, shoot & post. No shortcuts. It was conviction vs. convenience. That’s the difference. Filmmaking is not playing ‘SHOOTING-SHOOTING’.”Earlier, during an appearance on the ‘InControversial Podcast’, Sanjay had opened up about the effort that went into bringing ‘Dhurandhar’ to life. He revealed that Aditya spent nearly four years mounting the ambitious project before it eventually went on floors.“It is very evident that Aditya Dhar is inspired by filmmakers of the 80s and 90s. I can clearly see those influences and that style of world-building. There is no doubt that Aditya Dhar is an exceptionally intelligent filmmaker. But having said that, he spent four years trying to put this project together. That’s how difficult it is, irrespective of whether your last film was a hit or not,” he had said.Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles. The action drama emerged as a massive commercial success, earning around ₹1,306 crore worldwide at the box office, according to Sacnilk.
