Lucknow: Lucknow University will re-allot hostels entirely online through its Hostel Management System (HMS) for the academic session 2026–27, making the process more transparent and convenient for students.The management said all the hostels on the campus will be revamped. LU has 18 hostels with a combined accommodation capacity of 3,029 students on its two campuses.“Our hostel allotment will now be 100% online. Also in a major infrastructure push ahead of the 2026-27 academic session, we have launched an extensive renovation drive across all the hostels to provide students with a safer, cleaner and more student-friendly residential environment,” said LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava.He said to facilitate the renovation work, the university has directed existing hostel residents to vacate their rooms by June 27, while hostel mess services will remain closed from June 28. Officials said the move would enable uninterrupted repair and maintenance work before the new academic session begins.LU renovation plan includes deep cleaning of hostel rooms, repair of damaged furniture, installation of mosquito mesh on doors and windows, roof maintenance and structural patchwork. Authorities are also renovating washrooms.LU orders fire safety audit of hostel buildingsIn wake of Aliganj fire incident, the university has ordered a fire safety audit of all hostel buildings. To ensure electrical safety and uninterrupted power supply, existing ceiling fans are being repaired and new ones are installed wherever required. Electrical wiring is also being inspected with damaged main switches and distribution boards being replaced.
