Lucknow: A Lucknow Police constable, Sunil Kumar Shukla, was dismissed from service after a departmental probe found him guilty of misusing social media to level unsubstantiated allegations against senior officers and violating service conduct rules.According to an official statement issued on Sunday, the inquiry committee, constituted on May 7, 2026, conducted a detailed probe, recording statements of the personnel concerned and giving Shukla a full opportunity to present his defence and supporting evidence. However, he failed to furnish any material to substantiate his claims.Investigators also found that he used social media without prior approval, in violation of the Uttar Pradesh Social Media Policy-2023. He was held guilty of breaching Rules 3, 6, 7 and 27 of the Uttar Pradesh Govt Servants Conduct Rules, 1956, along with provisions of the UP Police Uniform Regulations.Officials said the proceedings adhered to the principles of natural justice. Citing the gravity of the misconduct, the commissionerate ordered his dismissal, reiterating its commitment to discipline, accountability and proper conduct by its personnel.
