Lucknow: Awadh’s rich cultural heritage was celebrated in British Columbia, Canada, where the overseas forum of Aadaab Arz Lucknow organised a musical evening showcasing the city’s music, cuisine and composite Ganga-Jamuni culture.The event brought together nearly 100 music lovers, artists and members of the Indian diaspora. Organisers said the initiative aimed to promote awareness of Lucknow’s traditions, including its literature, etiquette, music and culinary heritage.The programme began with an introduction to the forum’s objectives and a tribute to Iffat Khan and her elder, Raja Nawab Ali, for their contribution to preserving Lucknow’s musical legacy.The evening featured ghazal and semi-classical performances by Devinder Bhatti, young artists Rhythm Sharma and Ishaan Sharma, Neerja, K.C. Naik, Harpreet Kaur and Harminder Singh. Popular renditions included ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo,’ ‘Chupke Chupke Raat Din,’ and compositions by Urdu poet Nasir Kazmi.“Lucknow’s culture is admired across the world because it embodies harmony, refinement and mutual respect. Through Aadaab Arz Lucknow, we want to preserve this legacy and introduce it to younger generations and global audiences,” said Iffat Khan, organiser of the event.
