Lucknow: The UP transport department has announced a statewide ‘Mission Safe Future’ campaign from July 1-15, to improve the safety of school transportation by ensuring full compliance with fitness and permit regulations.According to the official order, 65,162 school vehicles are registered on the integrated school vehicle management portal, including 56,471 vehicles with valid fitness certificates and 7,418 vehicles holding permits.The campaign seeks to achieve 100% fitness certification and permit compliance for all school vehicles.During the first phase, from July 1-7, transport officials will issue notices, conduct awareness programmes, physically inspect school vehicles, and organise meetings of district school transport safety committees.In the second phase, from July 8-15, enforcement teams comprising officials from the transport, police, traffic and education departments will carry out inspections across the state. “Vehicles found operating without valid permits, fitness certificates, or safety measures will face legal action and may be impounded until all deficiencies are rectified,” said an official source.
