Lucknow: A joint enforcement drive against illegal parking and unauthorised public transport vehicles was conducted on Tuesday along the Kamta Crossing, Polytechnic and Chinhat corridor following directions of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court in a public interest litigation.The operation was carried out by the transport department, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and the traffic police.During the drive, officials challaned 20 vehicles and impounded 10. Two buses operating under all-Uttar Pradesh permits were seized at Kamta Bus station for picking up passengers from undesignated areas. A private car was impounded for allegedly operating as an unauthorised commercial vehicle, while a taxi was seized for lacking valid fitness and pollution certificates and for non-payment of road tax.Officials also impounded three unregistered e-auto rickshaws and three overloaded trucks. Five taxi vehicles were challaned for illegal parking between Polytechnic Crossing and Kamta trisection.
