Anthropic shipped Remote Control for Claude Code, letting Pro and Max subscribers continue a terminal session from a phone, tablet, or any browser without moving anything to the cloud. The local machine keeps running the full environment — filesystem, MCP servers, project config – while the web or mobile client acts as a thin window into that session. It’s a clear bet that developers won’t tolerate separate cloud and local contexts when the underlying work is the same codebase. The feature reconnects automatically after sleep or network drops, though sessions still time out after about ten minutes offline. Cursor and Windsurf have pushed cloud-based coding hard, so Anthropic choosing to keep execution local while extending reach to mobile is a deliberate counterposition.
