NEW DELHI: Aadhaar holders can now add or update their email ID directly through the Aadhaar app, with UIDAI making the service free for six months from July 1.The facility removes the need to visit an Aadhaar centre for email updates. UIDAI said more than 2.5 lakh people updated their email address in the first two days of the feature going live. Linking an email ID with Aadhaar will help residents receive real-time alerts whenever an authentication request is carried out.UIDAI said this would improve transparency and provide an additional layer of security by allowing Aadhaar number holders to track the use of their identity details.
