Lucknow: Police are probing the death of a four-and-a-half-year-old boy in Madiaon after doctors found multiple injury marks on his body, raising questions over the mother’s claim that he died after slipping in a bathroom. The child, Aham, was brought to RMLIMS on Friday evening, where doctors declared him dead.According to the child’s mother, Poonam, her son slipped in the bathroom on July 3 and suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to the hospital, where he could not be saved. However, hospital sources said the case became suspicious after multiple injury marks were noticed on the child’s body. They further claimed that after being informed of the child’s death, the mother allegedly left the body at the hospital and returned only the following morning. Poonam denied fleeing and told police that doctors had asked her to return in the morning, prompting her to leave the hospital.Poonam’s husband Dinesh told police they have three sons. He alleged that in December last year, Poonam left their Unnao home with the children and moved to Lucknow to stay with her sister in Madiaon. She later shifted to a rented house with the youngest child.According to Dinesh, Poonam had initially left all three children at her parental home in Unnao before approaching the Bighapur police station in April seeking custody. Following a settlement facilitated by the police, she took Aham with her to Lucknow, where the child had been living with her.
