Lucknow: Panic gripped court complexes in Lucknow and Agra on Tuesday after both received bomb threats via email, prompting large-scale evacuations and intensive searches. No suspicious object was found at either location, police said. The latest alert marked the third bomb threat targeting the Lucknow court in the past ten days, while this was the first such threat reported from Agra during the recent spate. In Lucknow, the first such threat came on email on Feb 13, then on Feb 16.According to officials, the threat email was received by the district judge in Lucknow around 1 pm. Following this, the police evacuated the premises and launched a comprehensive search operation that lasted nearly three to four hours. DCP, West zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava, said multiple teams, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, scanned the entire court premises. Parking areas, including two-wheeler stands, were also thoroughly checked. Simultaneously, a similar threat email was received at the civil court complex in Agra, leading to an immediate suspension of judicial work and evacuation. ADCP Akshay Mahadik said all entry and exit gates of the Agra court were sealed, and a detailed search was carried out by police, bomb disposal squads, and special security units. “Nothing suspicious has been seized so far. However, all agencies remain on alert, and efforts are underway to trace the origin of the email,” he said. One Vishal Ranjan was arrested from Azamgarh on Sunday for a hoax mail claiming bombs were planted in Jaunpur court, police said.
