Lucknow: The alleged donation theft at Ram temple and the related administrative questions are expected to be discussed in detail at the central managing committee meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Delhi on July 19 and 20, though it is not officially listed on the agenda, said VHP sources.Sources said since issue has raised concerns within the sections of the Sangh Parivar, VHP brass might deliberate on the functioning of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra — the Trust responsible for the management and administration of the Ram temple.While the formal agenda of the two-day meeting, which was initially proposed to be held in Ayodhya, will focus on organisational expansion, religious outreach and national issues, insiders indicated that the alleged donation theft and its impact on public confidence could be raised during internal deliberations.Ram temple remains one of the most prominent religious institutions in the country, attracting lakhs of devotees and substantial donations every month. Any controversy surrounding its financial administration is viewed as sensitive both religiously and administratively.A senior VHP office-bearer said the organisation continues to have faith in the management framework of the Ram temple Trust. Describing it as an “ideal Trust,” the functionary said it enjoys the confidence of prominent saints, religious leaders and millions of devotees. According to the office-bearer, the Trust has been functioning with the objective of ensuring transparent management of the temple and preserving the sanctity of one of Hinduism’s most revered shrines.Sources suggested that any discussion during the meeting would be aimed at ensuring the smooth and seamless functioning of the Trust rather than questioning its institutional structure.VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal confirmed to TOI that the matter could come up before the central managing committee because of its significance. He clarified that the VHP traditionally does not interfere in the day-to-day management of independent temple trusts, but emphasised that the organisation remains committed to extending support whenever sought by such institutions. “VHP is only against govt control on temples and for this we have been waging a protest for a long time ,” he noted.Bansal’s remarks indicate that while the VHP intends to maintain institutional autonomy of the Ram temple Trust, it is closely monitoring developments in view of the temple’s national religious importance.The possible discussion comes after allegations surfaced regarding the theft of donations collected at the Ram Temple, triggering administrative scrutiny and public debate over security and financial oversight.Although investigation into the alleged donation theft is underway, the controversy has led to calls from some quarters for stronger safeguards in the handling of donations, surveillance systems and internal accountability mechanisms.The Ram temple has emerged as one of India’s biggest centres of pilgrimage. The scale of daily offerings and donations has made robust financial management and security systems an essential aspect of its administration.The July 19–20 VHP meeting is expected to bring together the organisation’s top leadership from across the country to review organisational activities and deliberate on issues concerning Hindu society. Bansal said that office bearers from 45 prants, totaling around 300, are expected to attend the meeting.
