Lucknow: Rainfall and technical faults disrupted electricity supply across several parts of Lucknow on Friday, prompting Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (MVVNL) to issue multiple breakdown and planned shutdown notices from its Gomti Nagar, Jankipuram and Amausi zones. In the Gomti Nagar zone, a series of outages affected localities through the day. Early morning breakdowns were reported from the Gangotri Vihar feeder after an overcurrent was recorded on the Indralok Setu feeder. Supply interruptions were also reported from feeders and substations serving Sector 1 extension, Sector 4 extension, Vivek Khand, HAL, Vibhuti Khand and GSI areas. MVVNL cited technical faults, feeder trips and moisture ingress into panels as contributing factors. In some locations, outages were linked to tree pruning work being carried out near overhead lines. A separate breakdown at the Shivpuri substation’s Durga Mill 2 feeder led to patrolling and fault detection efforts. Rain also slowed patrolling activity in parts of Mahanagar, according to field staff. In the Jankipuram zone, a planned shutdown for line-shifting work under the Kamta substation affected Vimal Nagar, Nand City, New Panchvati and adjoining areas. Later, a technical fault in the DC supply at the University Power House disrupted electricity on the Basera, University, 400 kV University, Birbal Sahni, Faizabad Road and Nirala Nagar overhead feeders. Additional interruptions were reported from the Rahim Nagar feeder under Subhash Park. The Brahmdev feeder under Faizullaganj also tripped after lightning damaged an HT bushing at a transformer in Paschim Vihar. The Amausi zone reported multiple disruptions, including a fault on the 33 kV line between Mohan Road and New Alambagh substations. MVVNL said supply was diverted through an alternate feeder while patrolling and rectification work began. Another breakdown occurred on the 33 kV Gosaiganj to Malesiamau line. Maintenance work to replace a burnt lead on a 100 kVA transformer at Kuraisi Mohalla in Mall also affected nearby areas. Separately, a scheduled shutdown at Kabir Nagar substation for charging a new 33 kV cable impacted neighbourhoods during the notified period.
