Did you know that Saif Ali Khan was one accused of eating a dog. While the incident today sounds hilarious, it was quite heartbreaking as actor Sheeba Aggarwal once lost her pet because of Saif’s dog. At that time, Saif was married to Amrita Singh and they were Sheeba’s neighbours. They were also very good friends, but this one incident also spoilt their friendship. Sheeba recalled living in the same residential society as the then-married couple Saif and Amrita. She said in an interview with Lehren Retro, that their pet German Shepherd fatally attacked her Pomeranian, leaving her deeply shaken by the incident.“We used to live in the same society, and she (Amrita) had a German Shepherd, and he was not trained and wasn’t supposed to be an unleashed dog. I am an animal lover, and I understand how different kinds of pets should be handled,” said the actor.Filmmaker Akashdeep, who was also present during the conversation, clarified that Saif and Amrita were away for a shoot when the incident occurred and were not personally responsible. According to him, a member of the household staff accidentally left the gate open, allowing the German Shepherd to escape and attack his two Pomeranians. “To give the couple their due, they were not at home and were shooting somewhere; the house help left the door open, and my two Pomeranians were out for a walk, and the German Shepherd tore them apart,” he said.Akashdeep then narrated the comical misunderstanding that followed the tragic incident. “My watchman called me and told me that I needed to get back as soon as possible. When I asked what the matter was, he just said, ‘Saif aapka kutta khaa gaya’ (Saif ate your dog), and I just couldn’t understand what he was talking about,” Akashdeep shared.Sheeba admitted that despite the amusing confusion over the phone call, the loss of her pet took an emotional toll on her. “I was horrified and upset, and I went through a very bad phase,” she said.
