Lucknow: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has added 930 seats to its academic basket by affiliating five new colleges for the 2026-27 session.Of the total intake, 450 seats are for BTech programmes in emerging streams such as artificial intelligence, computer science, information technology and electronics and computer engineering, while the remaining 480 seats are for BBA, MBA, MCA and BCA courses.The four newly affiliated institutions are in Gautam Buddh Nagar, while one is in Hapur.The colleges will offer undergraduate programmes in artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, information technology and electronics and computer engineering. Collectively, they have been approved for 180 AI seats, 120 computer science seats, 90 IT seats and 60 electronics and computer engineering seats.AKTU vice-chancellor Prof JP Pandey said, “The demand for engineering programmes has gone up, with emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer science attracting a growing number of students and, as a result, new colleges.”
