JAMMU: Security forces on Tuesday launched an intensive search operation in multiple villages in Thanamandi region in J&K’s Rajouri district after CCTV cameras allegedly captured the movement of two terror suspects. The fresh searches came amid the ongoing Operation Sheruwali, a joint combing operation underway since May 23 in the forested Dorimal-Gambhir-Mughlan belt in Rajouri’s Manjakote sector for a group of two to three elusive ultras.CCTV footage showed the terror suspects crossing a road late Sunday. The clip went viral on social media Monday night, prompting a team of personnel from the Army, J&K Police’s SOG and CRPF to launch a joint cordon-and-search operation in Thanamandi, officials said. “The joint teams fanned out across Bhanghai Top and adjoining villages to track the two suspects,” an official said.In a separate development in J&K’s Samba district, a resident of Chak Salaria out on a morning walk found a drone in an agricultural field near Devak early Tuesday. He alerted the nearby Army unit, prompting security forces to rush to the location and seize the UAV.Officials said the drone was sent for forensic examination to ascertain its technical specifications, including payload capacity. A detailed investigation was underway into the device’s origin and suspected cross-border links.
