Lucknow: A CRPF jawan posted in Srinagar has allegedly been duped of ₹2.74 lakh in a suspected forex trading investment scam.According to police, Amit Kumar Singh, a resident of Surwar Khurd village under Rudhauli police station in Basti district, came across a social media video promoting profits through forex trading. Soon afterwards, he was contacted by a person identifying himself as Vivek Kumar. The accused allegedly sent the victim a WhatsApp link, through which he was asked to register and invest. Believing the claims, the CRPF jawan transferred ₹2,74,700 in multiple instalments.However, when the victim later attempted to withdraw his money, neither the principal amount nor the promised profits were returned.Realising he had fallen victim to cyber fraud, Amit lodged a complaint with Rudhauli police on Jul 9. An FIR was registered on July 16, and the investigation has been assigned to sub-inspector Sanjay Kumar Dubey.
