Greater Noida: Noida Power Company Ltd (NPCL) has enabled the commissioning of Gautam Budh Nagar’s first rooftop solar power project at a high-rise residential society under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The 500-kWp grid-connected rooftop solar plant has been installed at Arihant Arden Apartment Owners Association (AOA) in Greater Noida West and is expected to benefit 1,519 apartment owners by lowering common-area electricity expenses. The project received ₹90 lakh as Central Financial Assistance under the scheme within 30 days of commissioning approval.Designed to meet a significant share of the society’s common-area power demand, the plant will support electricity needs for lifts, corridor lighting, water pumps and club facilities.Annual generation is estimated at 6 lakh to 7.5 lakh units, translating into projected savings of ₹40 lakh to ₹45 lakh per year. The installation is also expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 550 to 650 tonnes annually.NPCL said it provided technical guidance, regulatory support, approvals and grid synchronisation to facilitate commissioning.
