Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has started work on a Rs 85 crore project to strengthen the drainage network in Gomti Nagar and Gomti Nagar extension to address waterlogging issues affecting residents and commuters.The project is based on a survey report prepared by IIT Roorkee and aims to increase the capacity of drains to handle rainwater during heavy showers.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar on Saturday inspected the ongoing work and directed officials to speed up the construction.A 3-km drain between Husadiya Crossing and Dayal Paradise Crossing in Vinay Khand is being rebuilt as an RCC drain at a cost of around Rs 63 crore. Another 1.4-km drain between Hahnemann Crossing and Husadiya Crossing in Vineet Khand is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 13 crore.Drain improvement work is also underway in Viraj Khand and Vinamra Khand. A sump well has been built near Indira Gandhi Pratishthan at a cost of Rs 40 lakh to deal with waterlogging near the High Court area in Vibhuti Khand.
