Lucknow: In a failed ‘Munna Bhai’ attempt during the LLM entrance exam at Lucknow University’s second campus on Monday, fellow candidates in the examination hall spotted an examinee allegedly using a mobile phone and alerted the invigilator. The accused was taken for questioning, but escaped through the window of the room.The incident took place during the first shift of the LLM entrance examination at the engineering faculty examination centre at the second campus. According to LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava, candidate Jatin Varshney, a resident of Aligarh, was caught allegedly using a mobile phone inside the examination room.“Mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed inside examination halls. The candidate was found using a mobile phone and action was initiated as per university rules. The matter was reported to the police and further proceedings are underway,” said Srivastava.A candidate appearing for the LLM entrance exam, Krishna Tiwari said that a candidate sitting in the room noticed that he was using a mobile phone and immediately raised an alarm.Candidates informed the invigilator. Had the candidates not noticed it, the cheating might have gone undetected as Jatin managed to smuggle a phone inside the examination despite strict vigilance and frisking by authorities.“After being caught, the candidate was taken to a room on the first floor of the engineering faculty for further action. The room was locked from outside, but the candidate broke the window and escaped from the examination centre,” said Srivastava.An FIR has been lodged against the candidate, his application will be cancelled and the process to debar him from future examinations has also been started, he added.
