NEW DELHI: Congress Thursday said PM Modi’s address to the Knesset was an “unabashed defence of his host” Benjamin Netanyahu, adding it has diminished India’s moral standing. The party released a letter by Jawaharlal Nehru to Albert Einstein, in which the first PM termed the rights of Arabs as crucial in the context of creation of Israel.Referring to Modi’s statement that India had recognised Israel on the day of his birth, Congress spokesman Jairam Ramesh said Einstein wrote to Nehru on June 13, 1947, on the subject of creation of Israel, and the latter replied on July 11. He posted Nehru’s letter on X.Nehru wrote, “I confess that while I have a very great deal of sympathy for the Jews, I feel sympathy for the Arabs also in their predicament.”Congress attack reflects Rahul’s frustration: BJPBJP Thursday hit back at Congress over its criticism of PM Modi’s Israel address, saying the attack reflected frustration over Rahul Gandhi’s fading prime ministerial prospects. BJP spokesman Sambit Patra highlighted Modi’s standing ovation at the Knesset and the Speaker’s Medal honour, while alleging Congress was attempting to tarnish India’s image through stirs, campaigns.
